Fall AF Family & Friends Outing

Pack your best plaid, puffer vests, and boots and prepare for some seriously basic insta-worthy photo-ops. The entire group of wedding guests are invited on a bus ride out to the country for apple picking and a picnic in the orchard! We'll also take the opportunity to get an epic group photo for everyone to remember the weekend!
We will have a reserved tent area for the afternoon (approx 12p-3p). Everyone will receive full access to the orchard including u-pick apples, sunflowers, pumpkins; childresn petting zoo; corn maze and soybean maze; hay rides, and country store (where the apple cider donuts are!).
Buses will depart hotel (Residence Inn) at 10:45am to arrive at the orchard around Noon. Two motor coaches will depart the orchard at 3pm. If you have *RSVP'd "yes," please make sure to attend--we are paying for your entrance/lunches in advance and will reserve appropriately-sized coaches to account for each person attending.
*If you plan to drive yourself, please let us know so we account for that in the motor coach reservation.

The invitation indicates “COCKTAIL ATTIRE”, but we don’t expect you dressed to the nines. Our hope is for a nice, fun, semi-casual atmosphere where everyone is comfortable, looks great, and has an even better time.
Gentlemen....a suit or blazer are appropriate, neck ties are not required.
For you ladies, we do not expect you in neck ties either and you can leave your ball gowns at home. It'll be a nice (hopefully warm) fall evening in Chicago, so dresses of any length, jumpers, pant suits, and skirts/blouses are appropriate.
We recommend elastic waist bands because the buffet will be de-lish-ous! Just kidding, but you certainly won't leave hungry, unless you try.
Travel
Your Travel Arrangements
This is a Friday wedding. Our hope is to have as much time as possible to spend with each of you.
You may arrive any time, however the room rates begin on Thursday, September 26, 2019. You may request an extension of the rates by contacting the hotel if you wish to come early or stay longer.
It's suggested you arrive Thursday evening if you are traveling by air to avoid any interruptions which may prevent your attendance.
We will have a dinner on Thursday evening for our immediate families. Friday will be the main event, and we're planning an adventure on Saturday for the group, so stay tuned!
We hope you will join us for as much of the weekend as you are able or willing. It is sure to be a fun group!
We will host brunch on Sunday, so if your departures allow you to stop by and be with us for any amount of time, please do. We are right off the highway on your way to Chicago-O'Hare (ORD - 14.5 miles Northwest) and Chicago-Midway (MDW - 13.5 miles Southwest).
Getting Around Town
We wouldn't recommend renting a car. Parking is very expensive in garages, including the hotels, and street parking is difficult. Lyft, Uber, or taxis are the best way to get around. Lyft and Uber require you to download the app on your smartphone.
We will have transportation for a few of the events (more to come on this).
Transport from the airport is easy by train (subway) on the CTA or it is a $30-40 Lyft/Uber/Taxi ride depending on time of day. Note that evening arrival may put you at high traffic time making the 30 minute ride more than an hour at times.
